What to Know about Scholarships in the United States

0

Do you know that you can pay for your university degree in a way that will not result in debt in future? Apply for a scholarship, and you will get a kind of college financial support that does not require to be repaid.

Where to Find a Scholarship
Scholarships in the United States can be applied from anywhere. You can earn a scholarship from the university you plan to attend, charities, businesses, community organizations, corporations or private citizens. Among the famous Scholarships in the United States include the Intel Science Talent Search, the Gates Cambridge Scholarship, and the National Merit Scholarship. Even the University Language Services offers scholarships.

Who Eligible for a Scholarship?
There is a popular fallacy that only the straight-A students can earn a scholarship. That could not be very further from the truth since thousands of scholarships every year are given based on academic achievement. However, thousands more are given based on an array of other criteria. Anyone who takes the time to ask around and apply for Scholarships in the United States can win one or several. Students usually get scholarships due to their athletic abilities, community services, artistic talent or plans to study in a certain field.

However, an eligibility criterion can as well be far more exact. Extreme cases include the Frederick and Mary F. Beckley Scholarship. It awards money only to the left-handed students. The Duck Brand Duct Tape Prom Contest is only awarded to couples who go to their high school prom in outfits made entirely out of duct tape. The Tupperware Home Parties Scholarship awards only the independent Tupperware dealers and their dependents that plan to go to college.

Which Level of School Gets Scholarships?
Scholarships in the US are available to students at any academic level. Therefore, you do not have to be in senior high school to benefit. You may be an undergraduate or a student undergoing a master’s degree or doctoral course. Gift aids offered to graduate students are often referred to as fellowships. Also, high school senior students who take some time off before going to college are not prohibited from earning scholarships.

How to Get a Scholarship
Much like university itself, earning scholarships needs time, diligence as well as commitment. There are many ways to earn scholarships. You may go to your local library and read the mammoth directories or library files with thousands of private scholarships offers or search scholarship sites. Even if you utilize the internet, there is a lot involved than just searching a couple of words. Most scholarships providers require a well-written and thoughtful essay. Do not forget to consult your guide or counselor to know if you qualify for any support. Also, remember to contact the university you plan to join to see if you are qualified for any of its awards.

The Amount you can get from a Scholarship
Scholarships may come in virtually any amount ranging from $50 to $50,000 or more. Students may sometimes be able to fund their full education with scholarships. However, this is an exception but not a rule. The average scholarship money from a private source outside of college is $2,000.

Who Can Write My Essay For Free?

0

If you are out there wondering “who can write my essay for free” I am sorry to inform you that there is no one. What kind of a person do you have in mind that is eagerly waiting for you to offer free services instead of going out there to make a living? Do you spend your precious time giving free services yourself to every Tom, Dick, and Harry? I cannot ask anybody to write my essay for free because I cannot even trust that the paper was properly done. I do not see what could motivate a person to write a quality paper for me for free.

Paid Advice
I can advise you, although you should not think that I am doing it for free. I am earning cash right now as I advise you. If you ever need some essay writing service, be ready to pay even if it in those cheap websites or to freelance writers. By the way, academic writing services are not as expensive as some people think. You can pay as little as ten dollars per page for a professionally written piece. But usually, the quality of work that is delivered by writing websites is directly proportional to their charges.

However, individual writers are much cheaper as compared to the writing firms since they have fewer bills to pay. Just choose your most appropriate option between the freelance writers and the cheap websites if you are very broke. If the charity writer accepts your order, you may not be too sure if they will deliver it on time. All along, you will always panic wondering if they will ever submit the order to you since you never paid anything. It is good you pay so that you enjoy the right to get quality work on time. By that, you will be sure of getting a professionally written essay that will accomplish your mission of passing your college course.

Alternatives
Still bent on having your essay written for free? Write it yourself. You will not incur anything. Most academic writing firms offer free samples, guidelines, and templates of writing essays. Utilize those free goodies and learn how to write similar papers. Articles from similar academic field usually follow similar writing styles as well as formats hence the free samples will come in handy since you do not want to part with your money. I would rather struggle to utilize these samples instead of expecting someone to write my essay for free.

Warning
If you are still insisting that “someone should write my essay for free,” you should be a worried person. Normally, free goodies from strangers have always been related to scam. You may find an internet link or a website claiming to offer free essay writing services. You may think that you are very lucky, but it could be a trap. Once you click or log on the website, your computer system could be compromised, and you end up losing your online cash or sensitive data.

General Search Tips for Online Libraries in the United States

0

The following strategies will help you refine your information search and do it fast as well as more effectively so that you get the sources from online libraries in the United States. Remember that most databases normally recognize the tools below but not all. Also many have built-in tools to simplify the process. Look at the advanced search areas on any database or search engine and see what your options.

What to Note
It is usually important to remember that many search engines and online libraries in the United States do not understand the natural language. That means typing in a question or sentence will likely not get you the results you expect. Therefore, instead of typing the question you are searching for, type the keywords for the topic while considering how someone can answer that question. For instance, instead of typing “What are the present views regarding illegal immigration?” just type, “illegal immigration public opinion.” Use the advanced search screen option to limit the search year.

Get Started Early Enough
Research is a repetitive and usually a time-consuming process even for the most skilled researchers. Therefore, the sooner you start, the more time you will have to evaluate your resources and have time aside to select new resources if the literature you thought was superb turns out to be irrelevant.

Brainstorm
After you select a topic, spend some adequate time thinking about various ways it may be referred to. That includes the words the authors use when writing about a certain topic.

Do Preliminary Research
If you are unfamiliar with the subject at hand, find an encyclopedia piece or search on the internet for some relevant background information. Getting the background knowledge will make it a lot simpler to choose resources later. That is the point whereby Wikipedia becomes a very handy resource. Just skim through the literature for some common terminology and ideas as you check out the online resources linked at the very bottom of the page. After that, move to the library databases as well as the catalog to search for the authoritative and reliable resources.

Search in Library Databases
Online libraries in the United States are designed to be utilized for research, and they are the best tools for getting articles. Although their interfaces may look different, most databases have very handy tools that are specifically designed to help users locate the best articles for their research, which may not be available in the online search engines. Also, most of the databases listed by the library are usually subject-specific hence they do some operation for you by excluding articles that are not in your discipline. Therefore, always check the subject guides for opinions on the databases that may be most useful for you. IEEE Xplore is an example of such libraries.

Utilize the Available Sources
At the end of all scholarly articles or books, you will always find a list of references. Take advantage of that to find more useful resources. If you get stuck, seek professional help. Librarians boast of specialized training in searching and locating information.

Dissimilarities in APA and MLA Formatting and Style Guide

0

APA is arguably the most used academic writing style in the social sciences while the MLA is predominately used in the fields of liberal arts as well as arts and humanities. The APA and MLA Formatting and Style Guide clearly state the overall structure of paper regarding style, content and referencing format. Although these two most popular writing styles have some similarities, they also bear some differences as seen in the APA and MLA Formatting and Style Guide.

Paper Formatting
An APA-formatted essay or research paper consists of four major parts that include the title page, body, abstract and references. The MLA-formatted paper does not include a separate title page or an abstract. It has two major parts that include the body as well as the works cited page.

The Title Pages
APA papers include page headers at the very top of every page including the title page. The APA’s title page should include the title of the paper, the name of the writer and institutional affiliation. An MLA-formatted essay should include the title of the discussion on the first page which separates it from the body by double spacing. MLA academic writing style also includes a header on the left side corner of the first page with the writer’s name, instructor’s name, course name and the date the paper was completed.

apa-style-term-paper-sample

In-Text Citations
MLA and APA-formatted papers use slightly varying methods in their in-text citations. The MLA writing style follows the Writer-Page format while the APA writing style uses the writer-date format. An APA-formatted paper has the writer’s last name together with the year of book publication in its parenthesis just after the cited works. An MLA-written paper has the writer’s last name together with the page number in its parenthesis just after the discussion.

Reference Pages
APA-written papers include a separate page at the end of each paper entitled “References,” while the MLA papers have the last page entitled as “Works Cited.” In an APA-written paper, if there are multiple works written by the same writer, the titles should be listed chronologically beginning with the earliest work. However, in an MLA-style paper, the works cited are listed alphabetically using a title and three hyphens rather than the writer’s name after the first reference. In an MLA’s works-cited page, the second line and all other following lines for each source should be indented five times. An APA-style source should be indented one and a half inch from the margin of the first line.

You should clearly note that your lecturer or supervisor may have unique instructions regarding the usage of these academic writing styles as well as formats in their assignments. Where the supervisor’s instructions conflict with the standard rules of the APA and MLA Formatting and Style Guide, you should follow their will. You should not argue with your tutor since they know it better unless you want to fail terribly in that paper. However, it is very rare that you will find experienced lecturers giving out contravening instructions to their students.

Athletics

The UNLV has varsity teams in 17 different sports categories. The men’s basketball team is known as the “Runnin’ Rebels” while the men’s baseball team is normally referred to as the “Hustlin’ Rebels”. The Rebels are among the founding member of the famous Mountain West Conference, in the prestigious NCAA’s Division I. The only exceptions here are the UNLV men’s football team and the swim & dive team, that compete in the dominant Western Athletic Conference.
