It is a major public university located in the northern outskirts of the Qatari capital Doha. As of the year 2014, it had over 16,000 students. Here, courses are taught in Arabic or English in natural sciences, engineering and also in business. The University is the sole public university in the country. It hosts seven colleges for Arts and Sciences, Education, Engineering, Business and Economics Law, Sharia Studies, and Pharmacy. It has a total of around 8000 students at a small 13:1 student-teacher ratio.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University
It is a public university situated within Education City in the Qatari capital, Doha. The University is a prestigious member of the Qatar Foundation which began graduating students in the year 2014. It was named in honor of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa, the former Emir of Qatar.

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar
It is one of the branches of Carnegie Mellon University, found in Doha, Qatar. It is also Carnegie Mellon’s initial undergraduate campus and also a member of the mega Qatar Foundation. The campus began graduating students in 2008. Carnegie Mellon Qatar hosts approximately 400 students in its 60 faculties and postdoctoral researchers serviced by only 90 staff members.

Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar
The university is also known as SFS-Q and is a branch of the Georgetown University Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service that is located in Doha, Qatar. The satellite campus, which joined the Education City in 2005, is a joint initiative between Qatar Foundation and the Georgetown University. The SFS-Q has a total of 230 undergraduate enrollments and a 17.4% acceptance rate.

Texas A&M University at Qatar
The university is a branch of the Texas A&M University that is found in the Education City, Al Rayyan, Qatar. It offers undergraduate degrees in electrical, mechanical, chemical and petroleum engineering.
